Cloud Cuckoo Land

Anthony Doerr 2021
Read: 2024
Fiction

My friend Heather recommended this book after I published my Summer Reading blog post in the Summer of ’23.  Any book by Anthony Doerr is worth reading, so I jumped in. (All the Light We Cannot See is so worth reading and re-reading, and the Apple TV Mini-Series is outstanding!) The book is a bit challenging to get into at first, and it’s a hard book to review, because I don’t want to give anything away.

Suffice it to say that it is beautifully written, it’s about life in the future, it’s about curiosity, it’s about how the culture we grow up in shapes us far more than we know, and it’s about humanity’s ability to adapt to new situations. When my Dad read it (aat my recommendation), it took him quite a while to get into it, but he did love it in the end.

I’d love to say more, but I think you would enjoy it less if I did.
